New managers often face confusion and struggle as they try to navigate the challenges of supervising people who were once their colleagues.
Experienced managers may notice gaps in their leadership, which they want to address to be more effective.
This course helps both new and experienced leaders develop their skills in setting their vision or strategy for their teams or companies, communicating that vision out, and finally, motivating and inspiring their teams to get on board and make the vision happen.

Every leader needs a network of others – colleagues, clients, peers, and employees – to succeed. But often, it is technical skills that allow a professional to rise into managerial position – not relationship skills. These new skills must be developed in order to be effective as a leader.
In this course, participants will:
- learn and practice building rapport, the foundation of any relationship
- discover strategies to navigate differences
- acquire an active listening process that will not only help others communicate with the given leader, but also create a higher degree of trust

- get techniques for handling and resolving conflict, including addressing differences that can lead to conflict before it happens

Leadership: Hiring Others
Bringing new people onto your team can feel risky. An individual may have a great resume and excellent references, but you still may be unsure whether they are the best fit for the job. In this course, you’ll learn the science of benchmarking, and go through a process of benchmarking your open positions so that you hire the right person for the right job, every time.
Communication Skills for STEM Professionals
High-level conversation and communication skills are necessary in all industries. In STEM and other technical fields, however, there are added challenges. In this course, participants learn to:
- Define and apply emotional intelligence
- Build empathy and rapport across differences
- Build trust through an active listening process
- Create greater understanding through strategic questioning
The course then addresses the challenges of translating technical information to a non-technical audience. Finally, the course can be tailored to include the TriMetrix DNA assessment, and techniques in persuasion, motivation, negotiation, and/or conflict management.

Building a Dynamic STEM Team
Differences of all kinds can lead to misunderstandings and dysfunctions on teams. In this course, participants explore differences via the TriMetrix DNA assessment. They learn about:
- The DISC model of work styles
- Their own preferred work styles
- The value of each style
- The Driving Forces model of motivation
- Their own inner drivers, or motivations
- The value of other drivers
- How to work with people whose work styles and/or drivers are different from their own
By learning more about work styles and motivations, participants come to appreciate the differences that make their teams strong. Teams can then operate more harmoniously and effectively.
